Professional Biography

Dr. Rich Rowley holds the position of Dean of Instruction, Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, on the Menifee Valley Campus of Mt. San Jacinto College. Prior to serving in this role, he was chair of the Communication Department on the San Jacinto Campus, teaching courses in public speaking and interpersonal communication. He also served as chair of the Curriculum Committee and advisor to Phi Theta Kappa, the honor society for two-year college students, including an appointment as Southwest California Advisor to the NV/CA Regional Board of Phi Theta Kappa and NV/CA Regional Alumni Association Advisor.

His teaching experience spans over thirty years at colleges and universities in Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Southern California (where he has taught communication courses at Fullerton College, Chaffey College, University of Phoenix, and Cal Poly Pomona). He has coached a successful high school debate team, coordinated a large-scale, federally-funded research project at the University of Minnesota, and chaired the Curriculum and Budget Committee at a Midwestern community college through a time of critical change. He holds a Ph.D. in Speech Communication from the University of Minnesota and has co-authored articles in the Journal of Social Behavior and Personality and the Journal of Studies on Alcohol.
